PVOH Solution PreparationPolyvinyl Alcohol grade 62-99 (PVOH 62-99) is a high-viscosity, fully hydrolyzed polymer designed to produce films with exceptional tensile strength and tear resistance. It provides excellent resistance to oil, grease, petroleum hydrocarbons, and common solvents. This grade is equivalent to Selvol™ 165, Elvanol 70-62, PVOH 70-62, and Poval 60-98, as well as similar to Poval 56-98.

SELVOL 205 Polyvinyl Alcohol, PVOH688
SELVOL 205 is a low-viscosity, easy-to-dissolve polyvinyl alcohol, commonly used as a stiffener or sizing agent for textiles and paper. This off-white granular solid exhibits excellent thermal and light stability, making it suitable for various industrial applications. The viscosity of a 4% solution is between 5.2 and 6.2 cps.

Polyvinyl Alcohol Grade 22-88, PVA 217, Elvanol 52-22
PVOH Solution PreparationPolyvinyl Alcohol grade 22-88 is a water-soluble polymer produced by the alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. It has a viscosity of approximately 22 cps in a 4% solution. This polymer is widely used as a binder in sizes due to its excellent penetration and adhesion properties on various fibrous materials. Its remarkable film characteristics include high cohesion, toughness, low electrostatic charging, and redissolving capacity in water. PVOH 22-88 offers excellent barrier properties, repelling oil, grease, and fat due to its insolubility in most organic solvents. It enhances mechanical strength when applied as a film on paper or paperboard, making it an ideal surface sizing agent. It also serves as an outstanding carrier for optical brightening agents and pigments. This grade can replace Elvanol® 52-22, Poval 26-88, Selvol 523, and PVA-217 with comparable viscosity.

PVOH2588 is a medium-viscosity (25 cps), partially hydrolyzed (88%) water-soluble polymer that dissolves in warm or room-temperature water. Equivalent to Elvanol® 52-22, Poval 26-88, Poval 22-88, Selvol 523, and PVA-217, this polymer is widely used in coatings, adhesives, and films. It is especially valued for its higher binding capacity compared to synthetic latex and starch, making it ideal for spiral wound tubes, coated paper, linerboard, and specialty water-soluble films. PVOH2588 also adds strength to recycled boards and enhances oil and grease resistance.
Additional applications include stabilizing vinyl acetate, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride emulsions, re-moisturizing adhesives, temporary binders for ceramics, photosensitive coatings, and as a soil anti-redeposition agent. It is suitable for use in textile coatings and joint compounds.

Equivalent to PVOH5042, Elvanol® 50-42, SELVOL 540, and POVAL 49-88, it dissolves in cold water but benefits from heating or warm water for complete dissolution. This polymer offers high tensile strength, tear resistance, and excellent properties as a disperser and stabilizer. Applications include stabilizing vinyl acetate, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride emulsions, re-moisturizing adhesives, temporary binders for ceramics, water-soluble films, paper adhesives, photosensitive coatings, and as a soil anti-redeposition agent. PVOH 49-88 is also widely used in personal care, construction, textile, and emulsion industries and is a key ingredient for making slime.
