Menthol Crystals USP/BP
Synthetic racemic menthol in crystalline form, conforming to USP and BP pharmacopoeial standards. Composed of a 1:1 mixture of D-menthol and L-menthol enantiomers, with specific optical rotation between −2° and 2°, indicating optical inactivity. These crystals are white or colorless with a characteristic peppermint aroma and mild cooling effect (~50% intensity compared to pure L-menthol). Exhibits melting points of 28 °C or 38 °C due to dual crystal forms. Very slightly soluble in water, readily soluble in ethanol, volatile oils, and other organic solvents. Used in topical analgesics, lozenges, decongestants, oral care, cosmetics, food, and industrial applications. Caution:
