FD&C RED 40 Powder, Allura Red AC (FDCRED40)

FD&C RED 40 Powder, Allura Red AC

Allura Red AC is a water soluble red azo dye that goes by several names, including FD&C Red 40. It is used as a food dye and has the E number E129. In solution, its maximum absorbance lies at about 504 nm (Absorbs green color).  In the United States, Allura Red AC is approved by the FDA for use in cosmetics, drugs, and food. It is used in some tattoo inks and is used in many products, such as cotton candy, soft drinks, cherry-flavored products, children’s medications, and dairy products. It is occasionally used to dye medicinal pills, such as the antihistamine fexofenadine, for purely aesthetic reasons. FDC RED 40 is by far the most commonly used red dye in the United States,[8] completely replacing amaranth (Red 2) and also replacing erythrosine (Red 3) in most applications due to the negative health effects of those two dyes. Information provided in this page are from the manufacturer, supplier or online resources. CAS Number: 25956-17-6 C.I.# 16035

SKU: EOHCDA19
ethylenediaminetetraacetic-acid-edta
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA) (EDTA00)

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA)

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is a white odorless crystalline powder used as chelating agent in pulp & paper, cleaning, chemical processing, agriculture and water treatment.

Acid EDTA also known as edetic acid, is an aminopolycarboxylic acid with the formula [CH2N(CH2CO2H)2]2. This white, water-soluble solid is widely used to bind to iron (Fe2+/Fe3+) and calcium ions (Ca2+), forming water-soluble complexes even at neutral pH. It is thus used to dissolve Fe- and Ca-containing scale as well as to deliver iron ions under conditions where its oxides are insoluble.

In Textiles and paper industry, EDTA is mainly used to sequester (bind or confine) metal ions in aqueous solution. In the textile industry, it prevents metal ion impurities from modifying colors of dyed products. In the pulp and paper industry, EDTA inhibits the ability of metal ions, especially Mn2+, from catalyzing the disproportionation of hydrogen peroxide, which is used in bleaching.

EDTA is added to some food as a preservative or stabilizer to prevent catalytic oxidative discoloration, which is catalyzed by metal ions.

EDTA can solubilize Fe3+ ions at or below near neutral pH. This property is useful in agriculture including hydroponics. However, given the pH dependence of ligand formation, EDTA is not helpful for improving iron solubility in above neutral soils. Otherwise, at near-neutral pH and above, iron(III) forms insoluble salts, which are less bioavailable to susceptible plant species.

EDTA is used extensively in the analysis of blood. It is an anticoagulant for blood samples for CBC/FBCs, where the EDTA chelates the calcium present in the blood specimen, arresting the coagulation process and preserving blood cell morphology.

In shampoos, cleaners, and other personal care products, EDTA salts are used as a sequestering agent to improve their stability in air.

Product Specifications

CAS Number 60-00-4

It is a colorless or slightly yellow liquid with a sweet, fruity odor reminiscent of root beer, often described as "minty" due to its use in mint-flavored candies. This organic compound is widely used in pain relief ointments and patches, as well as in some mouthwashes. Additional applications include its use as a denaturant, flavoring agent, oral care component, perfuming agent, and soothing agent.

Partially Hydrogenated Gum Rosin, FLORAREZ PR

Partially hydrogenated gum Rosin has a lighter color and is more stable.

Hydrogenated rosin has more resistance to oxidation and has lighter color.
Like unmodified pine rosin, hydrogenated rosin have a wide span of compatibility with almost all polymers. They are well known for their peel and tack contribution to the adhesive. Specific benefits of hydrogenated rosin include:

Lighter color.
Significantly improved stability.
Less to no skin sensitization (depends on the degree of hydrogenation).
Less UV absorption, thus making them suitable for UV curable polymer based adhesives.
Imparts only a slight decrease of cohesive strength, especially in block co-polymer systems.
Can be used in amorphous polyolefin based adhesives.
